Christ Church Ithan welcomes the baptism of infants, children and adults.
Baptism is the sacramental rite that admits the believer to the Holy Eucharist and to participate in the life of the congregation.
Holy Baptism is "full initiation by water and the Holy Spirit into Christ's Body, the Church. The bond which God establishes in Baptism is indissoluble." (from The Book of Common Prayer).
Each candidate for Holy Baptism needs to be sponsored by one or more baptized persons. Any infant or child may be baptized provided the parents or Godparents are willing to insure that the child will be brought up in the knowledge and love of the Lord.
When you choose to be baptized yourself or to have your child baptized in the Episcopal Church, it means you are choosing to live out the Baptismal Covenant in the context of an Episcopal church community, taking your part in the worship, mission and ministries of the local parish. Baptism is open to all people, regardless of age or background.
